Hi, I'm John Wiedemann and I am dedicated to helping you
UNLEASH YOUR POTENTIAL to ACHIEVE YOUR EXTRAORDINARY.
I'm John Wiedemann, over the last three decades I have worked in healthcare, finance, and the high-tech industry. I have worked at some of the largest companies in the world as well as some small start-ups and entrepreneurial ventures.
During this time, I have collaborated with a wide range of professionals from Entrepreneurs, CEOs, Business Owners, and VPs to Directors, Managers, Nurses, Case Managers and Assistant Coordinators. Together, we have been busy launching, building, operationalizing, re-organizing, and optimizing products, projects and programs. And, along the way, we have led, mentored, inspired, empowered, nurtured, and cultivated growth in others.
Through these experiences, one powerful truth became clear: no matter our roles or levels:
We all share a desire to leave a positive mark on the world,
to lead lives of
significance, fulfillment and impact.
Yet, many of us feel stuck, overwhelmed by exhaustion, and unsure how to regain control of our future.
Have you ever:
- Sat staring at your computer screen, at all the emails, tasks and projects or your full calendar and wondered "Is this all there is to life?"
- Wondered "Am I even making a difference?"
- Thought how great it would be if you controlled your own calendar?
- Struggled to show up as your best self, stressed out and exhausted, lashing out, right when your spouse or significant other needed you the most?
- Gone into that important presentation, meeting, or job interview completely unprepared because you had too many competing priorities due at the same time?
- Struggled to gain influence at work or at home?
- Worried about how you are going to get to the next level, or scared the next level will add too much stress in your career or life?
- Thought "I'm living the dream; I just don't know whose dream?"
- Looked neighbors, or colleagues and wondered "Why is it such a struggle for me to get ahead while it is so easy for them?"
I get it. . . these are all issues that impact your performance. And if these are some of the questions you are struggling with, you've come to the right place! I am a high performance coach who is here to help you figure out how to get back onto your “A” game!
Most people's success is typically defined by family, friends and colleagues.
Throughout my career I have worked with many people to help strategize and launch multi-million-dollar blockbuster products, created customer call centers, led the development and implementation of marketing campaigns, some that you may have seen on TV or in print media. I have reorganized and optimized teams and how they operate, I've helped people improve their skills—whether that was managing people or projects, running meetings, delivering presentations, or helping them with phone skills to speak with clients and patients, or even in conversation in personal settings.
Through it all, regardless of position or role or status, I have learned that most people's success is typically defined by family, friends and colleagues. We all spend a great amount of time thinking about strategies that would help us attain success, be the best, or get to the top of our business. Many of us strive for better job titles, and to gain higher leadership positions, others want more people reporting to us, and almost all of us work to get a bigger bonus and make higher wages.
"But I know my WHY. I'm E,N,T,J on Meyers-Briggs and score highest in Arranger and Consistency on CliftonStrengths. . ."
Some of us have learned about our "Why" and identified our top strengths on the Strengths Finder, know our personality type from taking a Meyers-Briggs and DISC test or a myriad of other tests. We do 360-degree reviews and get exceeds on annual performance plans. But knowing and doing all of this really doesn't seem to help us get to that next level. And, even when we get there, it doesn't guarantee our success at the next level or in the future.
Sure, the bonuses, titles, accolades and even the big house all come to us in some version of our reality. But still, not a day goes by where you don't see somebody on Instagram, or Facebook, or at your workplace, or out in your neighborhood, who seemingly has it easier or better. They might have more wealth, a bigger house, a better car, a better career, a higher level of status based on their title. They seem to be moving on up at a higher pace even though you started at the same level together. Their business is growing, they are moving up the corporate ladder faster. You might know that they've achieved things a little beyond where you're at. And you struggle with the question:
"Why is it such a struggle for me to get ahead
while it is seemingly so easy for others? "
That was the question I struggled with. What is it that those who are consistently at the top levels, or seemingly moving up faster in the world doing differently?
And we have heard the same old advice, "just work harder, you'll get there, it just takes time", "what got you here won't get your there", "it takes desire", just stick to it".
For some of us we do start moving ahead but then get stuck. We continue to work harder to get to the next level the relentless drive for success and the overwhelming pressure of bigger daily workloads. I have experienced firsthand, and seen in others, the burnout that comes from constantly working under tight deadlines. The late-night or early-morning preparations for meetings, missed family meals and events, lack of time for the gym or medical appointments, and wasting vacations catching up on work or in meetings—all contributing to a cycle of stress, exhaustion and overwhelm.
And the cycle continues. We constantly feel the need to achieve more or for some, even wish that we had chosen a different career or could start all over again. We lose direction or clarity in our life. Many of us feel trapped but continue the day-to-day grind of our current life because we feel we have no other option.
And there comes a new set of nagging questions:
“Is this all there is?" "Am I reaching my true potential?”
"Am I making a difference?"
Over the past 20 years I have been studying various leaders and successful performers, athletes, coaches, entrepreneurs, CEOs, local and world leaders. Wondering what set them apart? Why were some consistently successful? Why did some of their teams or companies consistently outperform others? Why did some of these people flame out as a one hit wonder?
I read a lot of their books, studied these successful people's backgrounds, looked at their education and marveled at the circumstances they overcame and their ability to attain success and stature. But it didn't seem to matter if they were an introvert or an extrovert, male or female, stuttered or were born with a life altering disease. Their IQ didn't seem to matter, none focused or spoke about their Meyers-Briggs letters, it didn't seem to matter where they came from, what their circumstances in childhood were or what their race or nationality was, how lucky they or their family were. None had won a billion-dollar lottery, and it didn't seem to matter whether they were competitive in sports or had no interest in sports at all. So, what set them apart from the others?
A Discovery: The High Performance Habits
Then in 2019, while searching through an airport bookstore waiting on a flight to whatever next city I had to be in for a meeting, I came across a book by Brendon Burchard called High Performance Habits. The book is based on a study that he conducted at his High Performance Institute, along with researchers from the University of California and University of Penn, where they began to answer these questions: Why is it that some individuals and teams succeed more quickly than others and they sustained that success over the long term? Of those who are successful, why are some miserable and others consistently happy despite similar impediments to success along the way? What motivates people to reach for higher levels of success in the first place, and what kinds of habits, training, and support helped them continue and improve?
In the book he discussed how he studied the performance of what they defined as successful people or "high performers". He focused on the different approaches they had to their life and career that generated a different quality of experience, or a higher level of wealth, influence, or happiness. Brendon and his colleagues identified and focused on the specific habits that each did consistently.
In the study they conducted global surveys, and one-on-one interviews and ran data analytics on over a million high performance indicator assessment data points, from over 300,000 people. They had over 1.6 million online students take the assessments. They ran all that data and compared it to academic literature reviews. They had coaching insights from over 3000 high performance coaching sessions. And then they had empirical results from actual training interventions. Then they distilled all of that down to over 100 different performance variables. And then they focused on which performance variables help people achieve long term success the most? And from there they identified specific habits that were consistently used by successful people. That means that these habits, their actions were under their control. And if these high performers had learned how to create and consistently use these specific habits, anyone can learn the habits and consistently use them. And in doing so, achieve long-term success and vibrant well-being, no matter your age, career, strengths, IQ, gender, race, or personality.
So, what is it that those who are at the top levels,
the top 15%, are doing differently?
The answer of what high performers did, is they sought breakthroughs, training and coaching in the critical areas I've listed below, what are called the high performance pillars. They worked to master these areas. How do you get from where you are to where you want to go? It's by mastering these pillars of high performance.
